Korean-Kiwi flautist Yunesang Yune started the flute at the age of 9 and was immediately mesmerised by the warm silvery tone of the dazzling instrument.
Since then, Yunesang has performed as a young rising soloist with the St Matthew’s Chamber Orchestra and the Korean community orchestra, ‘Love and Peace’. She has performed regularly with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra through her orchestral internship programme under the mentorship of Emma Gerstein.
In recognition of her potential, Yunesang won numerous awards and titles including semi-finalist at the 2019 Gisborne International Competition, recipient of the 2018 Anne Tolley NZ Prize, and winner of the 2017 Tauranga Performing Arts Competition. She was also the winner of the 2017 Performing Arts Competition Association New Zealand which made her an ILT National Young Performer.
Yunesang completed her Bachelor of Music studies under Emeritus Professor Uwe Grodd and hopes to study her Masters in Essen, Germany later this year with Professor Catherine Heinzmann.
